Mr. Meding has over 20 years of international experience, primarily with major mining companies such as Barrick Gold and Trafigura, including extensive experience with project development and operations in Argentina. While at Barrick Gold's Veladero mine in Argentina, he played a key role in the turnaround, extension of the mine life, and subsequent strategic partnering with Shandong Gold.
As Managing Director of McEwen Copper, Mr. Meding has led the project through a series of transformational milestones, including the delivery of the Preliminary Economic Assessment in 2023, the securing of the Environmental Permit for Construction and Operation in 2024, and the successful completion of a robust Feasibility Study and approval under Argentina's RIGI investment incentive regime in 2025. Under his leadership, the project attracted senior strategic investors including Stellantis and Rio Tinto's Nuton, and he has built out a capable integrated team of local and international professionals to advance Los Azules toward a Final Investment Decision and toward construction.
Mr. Meding is trilingual (Spanish–English–German) and holds an MBA from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Leipzig Graduate School of Management in Germany.
